100% of all money raised at The Turkey Bowl goes directly to The Sturge-Weber Foundation.  They help families like ours with information, resources, and support.  They also fund grants for research, like the research that has recently discovered the gene that causes Sturge-Weber Syndrome.  This video is why we do what we do.  Thank-You your support it has a direct link to breakthroughs such as this:http://youtu.be/s8UpIi7guuQ
Over $11,000 raised for the Sturge-Weber Foundation at the 2012  Turkey Bowl!  We are truly grateful for our family, friends, neighbors, and total strangers who came out to support us.  While raising $11,000 is great, we are even more thankful for putting Sturge-Weber on the map in Western Massachusetts!

What is Sturge-Weber Syndrome?  Click here to find out!

Started in 2008 in West Springfield, Ma in honor of John Kenney, The Turkey Bowl has fast become a local tradition among many.  John Kenney is an 8 year old boy affected with Sturge-Weber Syndrome.  Sturge-Weber is a very rare disorder affecting the brain.  John has lesions on a portion of his brain that prohibit that portion of the brain from growing.  John also has a large port wine stain on his face which is sometimes  common in Sturge-Weber cases.  Aside from the birthmark, you wouldn't know that John was different from his 3rd grade peers.  With a rare disorder, it was hard to find any answers to what was affecting John.  When his family found The Sturge-Weber foundation in 2005, they realized that they were not alone in their struggle.  In 2008 Johns family had a small gathering of friends at their home and had a touch football game and collected donations.  Now, five years later, it has become a tradition for many local families.  The Turkey Bowl has a touch football game, live music, crafts, and many childrens activities.  We suggest that adults donate $10. at the door and kids are always free.  All proceeds go directly to the Sturge-Weber Foundation.  While this event is a fundraiser we also hold it to raise awareness of this very rare disorder.  We hope to see you this Thanksgiving morning from 8:30am - noon!

This event is open to the public, we hope you can join us!

Every cent goes directly to The Sturge-Weber Foundation which is a 501(3) non-profit charity.
